Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started working as a TV and radio reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. In 1992, she was made chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. She was on the panel in the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. She has covered several notable reports over time, including fiscal reform, the budget, and an investigation into the Iran Contra saga. She travelled frequently along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
